Bolon

Bolon is a Swedish flooring brand redefining vinyl through a climate-neutral, circular production model. Made using a high proportion of bio-sourced and recycled materials, Bolon’s woven flooring demonstrates how performance surfaces can reduce material impact without compromising design quality, making it a relevant reference point for projects focused on responsible specification and long-term use.

Details

Bolon is a Swedish design company and world leader in woven vinyl flooring and rugs, combining Scandinavian craftsmanship with sustainable production. All products are consciously made in Sweden from durable woven vinyl with a high proportion of recycled materials and designed to deliver timeless colour, texture and performance for commercial and residential interiors.

The Bolon flooring range encompasses a wide variety of formats, including rolls, tiles, acoustic rolls and tiles, studio tiles and bespoke rugs, all available in extensive colourways and patterns across curated collections such as Artisan, BKB, Botanic, Elements, Emerge, Graphic, Silence and designer collaborations including Bolon by Jean Nouvel and Bolon by Patricia Urquiola.

Bolon products are suitable for high-use environments and bring aesthetic versatility to hospitality, retail, workplace and residential projects, offering robust performance, easy maintenance and acoustic solutions.

Sustainability credentials

Bolon’s approach to sustainability is embedded across its entire product range rather than confined to a single ‘green’ collection. All flooring incorporates bio-sourced PVC, recycled PVC and recycled chalk, resulting in a composition that includes 68 per cent waste material while maintaining a zero climate impact per square metre and the high design quality the brand is known for.

Manufacturing takes place exclusively at Bolon’s factory in Ulricehamn, Sweden, where production is climate-neutral. The facility operates as a dry plant, using no liquids other than water for humidification, with a closed cooling system that requires no additives and consumes no water. All electricity is renewable and certified, with on-site solar panels supplying approximately 25 per cent of the factory’s annual energy demand.

Available in Australia through The Andrews Group.

Reviving a wounded mill: Ennenda Mühle is restitched with care

At a former medieval mill in Ennenda, Switzerland, Atelier Lando Rossmaier begins with careful deconstruction, peeling back layers to reveal and renew the building’s original structure. Through this restrained approach, the once-abandoned mill is revived as a home and goldsmith’s workshop while preserving the character of its historic fabric.
