GreenCore® low-carbon aluminium

GreenCore® low-carbon aluminium

Alspec GreenCore® is a low-carbon aluminium range that benchmarks a reduced environmental footprint in aluminium systems, enabling lower-impact material choices without compromising structural performance or design intent.

Details

Alspec GreenCore® is a suite of low-carbon aluminium solutions developed by Australian manufacturer Alspec to address the embodied carbon impacts of aluminium in building systems. Aluminium is widely specified for framing, doors, windows and facades due to its durability and recyclability, but traditional production carries a high carbon load. GreenCore® responds to this challenge by offering aluminium products with a significantly reduced carbon intensity, measured in carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) per kilogram of aluminium – setting a new sustainability benchmark for architectural aluminium systems in the region.

The GreenCore® range includes both standard and Ultra GreenCore® variants, with the former achieving a carbon intensity of around 8 kg CO₂e/kg and the latter as low as 4 kg CO₂e/kg. These metrics are independently recognised indicators of global warming potential in material production.

This low-carbon aluminium is produced through a combination of recycled aluminium, renewable energy inputs and optimised manufacturing processes that reduce emissions without altering performance. The structural integrity, durability and adaptability allow GreenCore® to be specified across commercial, residential and institutional projects.

By quantifying and reducing embodied emissions at the material stage, GreenCore® supports broader industry commitments to net-zero pathways and helps architects, engineers and builders meet environmental and sustainability targets through responsible material specification and measurable outcomes.
